Spent the long weekend away — it was nice getting away from the city for a few days in the way that it’s nice to step away from the places and things and people you love briefly so you can love them more.  Spent the long weekend away with family because the parents are in town and will be for the rest of the week, and spent the long weekend away with extended family because three of my father’s sisters are in Pennsylvania and Maryland, so we went a-visiting, and I always love seeing my extended family, so it was pretty great.

Didn’t do much this weekend, work-wise, but that’s all right.  Read for leisure instead, did some much-needed-but-still-much-disliked shopping, drove a lot, ate my fill of Korean food and raided a Korean market with the parents, curled up in the back of the car and watched the trees pass by in silhouette form against the evening’s rainy sky.

Now, back home in my room in my flat in my city and very contented for it.  It’s been pouring rain all day, and PA has tornado warnings and forecasts that predict one-inch of hail, and Brooklyn is grey and slightly sticky and wet from the rain.  Indoors, though, running the air-conditioning, mourning the plant I purchased on Saturday that wilted and browned and shed leaves whilst I was away (it’s Tuesday today), and thinking of the reading I ought to do because I’ve got class tomorrow and I’d like to sleep soon.  Also, hoping for good weather tomorrow because I plan on walking the parents up along the boardwalk to Grimaldi’s, but it’s supposed to be nice, so let’s hope the forecast runs true!
